Today’s Healthy Dose – Savasana

Also known as corpse pose, it reduces blood pressure, anxiety and insomnia, receives stress, and reconnects you with your breath. And it’s so simple! Just lay on the floor, let your arms and legs fall open, let your belly soften, and inhale deeply, noticing each breath. Too good to be true? Try it!

Today’s Healthy Dose – Vitamin D

Studies show that people who get sufficient vitamin D have an easier time maintaining a healthy weight. And it’s so easy to get some. Stick your arm out the window while you drive, work in the garden for a bit, hang out by the pool, go for a short walk, or just sit, relax and catch some rays. I’ll be there are others…

Today’s Healthy Dose – Double Whammy

Most processed foods will get you coming and going. Coming, they offer virtually no nutrition to support healthy cell function. Going, they assault the body with damaging toxins. No matter how you look at it, they’re really a lose-lose.

Today’s Healthy Dose – A.K.A. Sugar

Did you know that there are over sixty covert aliases for processed sugary invaders on our food labels? Sixty!

But we have the power to look past ingredient deception to the the carbohydrate section of the label where it says “sugar”.  Be very wary of anything over 10 grams….

(or better yet, only eat foods that don’t come with a label)

Today’s Healthy Dose – Synthetic Cellulose

Naturally occurring cellulose, the kind you get from broccoli or celery, is a heart healthy soluble fiber. The cellulose found in items like pre-packaged shredded cheese and salad dressings is synthesized from wood pulp. Yum. And heart healthy? Not so much.
